About us & The Dayboro Shed
Tom & Mary-Anne Williams are the Proprietors of The Dayboro Shed.
We have been in & around Antiques for more than 50 years now, we acquired The Shed in 2004 & have built up our successful business out of it.
our story
The Dayboro Shed Antiques is a small family run business. Owners-operators Tom & Mary-Anne Williams along with Tahlia (Daughter) Designer & Furniture restorer and Alex (son-in-law) Photographer/Videographer.
Mary-Anne became interested in Antiques at the age of 12 when her Grandmother gave her a pretty orange iridescent coloured glass bowl (known as the Marigold Carnival Glass Bowl), From this moment it sparked the inner collector in her and the hunt began!
She still has that same Marigold Carnival Glass Bowl in her now much larger beautiful Collection, taking pride of place!
For Tom the passion for all things old ran in both sides of the family, when Tom was a wee old chap, only 8 years old he was given two small pocket knives by his Pop which started Tom's passion and interest for all things old & the rest is history!
His other Grandfather shared his knowledge & taught Tom how to repair and refinish old pieces of furniture using the aged old technique of French Polishing.
Mary-Anne & Tom started off as young childhood friends which from their love blossomed in their early 20's. With sharing the same passion for all things old & interesting, they began to travel all over the country side in the search for pieces large & small that took their eye. It was not long after that they knew what their destiny would be .......... Antique Dealers & dreamed of opening an Antique store of their own, well for this husband & wife this dream turned into a reality!!
While they both have extensive knowledge, Mary-Anne Specializes in Glass & Crystal including Carnival, coloured, clear & Studio Art Glass.
Tom Specializes in Antique furniture, Australian Pottery and Australiania and all things in between. He has very good knowledge about everything old and interesting and if he comes across something new (old) that he is not familiar with it does not take him long to source out the information. He alway's say's, one can not know everything in life & you never stop learning, if you could what a boring life we would have!!
Their family run business is always there to help anyone find that elusive item or Tom can restore that lovely old tired piece of family heirloom you may wish to have sweetened up.
He can also Value an item or items for Insurance, probate or estate division.
Tahlia, daughter has grown up sharing the same love & passion as her parents, Tahlia has a natural born talent for restoration, design & specialist in her own right, as well as a personality to match?
Alex, son in law (Big Al) is a talented Photographer & Videographer for the Dayboro Shed.
Alex has a heart of gold & he is always happy & willing to lend a hand beyond Photography, nothing is too much trouble for the big guy.
Except when the fish are biting!!
Alex just loves his fishing!!
